The future of robotics

Robots are becoming more and more intelligent.

The above video, courtesy of hulu.com, titled "Robot Pals" is an episode of Scientific American Frontiers. It's pretty interesting. The first robot team delves more into the technical aspects. The second has a guy so absorbed with himself that he doesn't shut up and let the more knowledgeable people do the talking--while simultaneously trying to steal their little bit of limelight. The last helps explain why the term 'government work' is a pejorative in the United States (their 'robot' is just a puppet).

The progress of artificial intelligence actually seems to be further along than expected. Though it does beg the question whether these people should be the ones 'raising' and 'parenting' the prototype intelligent robots.
